WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU APPLY
Please take a moment to ask yourself if you’re prepared to take on the responsibility of providing a safe, INDOOR ONLY home for 15-20 years? If you have young children or other pets, can you 150% ensure the safety of this cat or kitten for it’s lifetime? Do you have the ability to cover the cost of both regular check up’s ($300 & up) & the cost of emergency care ($500-$5,000)? Will your living arrangements always include your pet/pets? When you travel, you can cover the cost of hiring a responsible caretaker/pet sitter?
Please understand, we review each adoption application carefully. Our priorities are the lifetime health, wellbeing & safety of each kitty.
IF YOUR APPLICATION IS APPROVED our volunteer adoption coordinator Jenn will email you within 3-7 days to coordinate a phone interview & home check.
Not 100% sure if you’re ready to take on the lifelong responsibility of adoption, try fostering.
We DO NOT have a shelter facility, meaning each little love we’ve saved from the streets of L.A. is cared for in private, neighborhood foster home.
A legally binding adoption agreement must be signed by each adopter and a medical reimbursement fee submitted, which is $135 for a solo kitten under 6 months, $100 for a kitten 6 months or older, or adult cat & $175 for a bonded pair. Our team will always prioritize kittens adopted as a pair!
From time to time we DO reward adopters who SAVE a senior or very special adult kitty by waiving, or discounting the adoption fee. We always prefer to adopt kittens in pairs or pair a kitten with a suitable adult kitty.
Medical care is always handled by our adoption team and includes deworming, all cats and kittens are fully treated for fleas, FVRCP vaccinations (3 vaccinations for kittens under 6 months or 1 FVRCP vaccination for adult cats) & spay or neuter.
Due to extremely limited access to veterinary providers, surgery may be scheduled by our adoption team after you adopt . Unfortunately, L.A. is home to more animals than service providers/clinics and the wait times can be weeks & even months. Yes you can adopt, but this means you must be willing to sign a legally binding adoption agreement, communicate & coordinate with our adoption team to ensure all required medical care is completed.
Every adopter is rewarded with a 1 year complimentary discount membership ($25 value) to The Urban Pet stores where you’ll save on food & supplies. Just mention that you’ve adopted from us & they’ll activate your membership!
We provide all our adopters with referrals to our preferred vet’s, low cost vet clinics for the basics & our preferred pet sitters.
Every adopter becomes a member of our family & we’re always available via email to offer advise & support!
