11/1/24 L.A. is experiencing an animal overpopulation crisis.
We do NOT have enough volunteer trappers to assist with every Trap/Neuter/Return situation
& our ability to RESCUE any cats or kittens is limited unless you can foster.
WHAT IS TNR & WHY?
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) has been proven the most effective way to ensure strays, or neighborhood cats aren’t multiplying. It dramatically decreases the number of kittens suffering on the street & overwhelming shelters & rescues.
Once a spay/neuter appointment is made, free roaming, un-owned neighborhood cats are humanely trapped, transported to a clinic where they’re scanned for a microchip, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, treated for fleas and following 36 hour recovery, returned exactly where they were trapped.
Community focused, or “high intensity”TNR is what we do. Read the most recent scientific research supporting regionally focused TNR. . Frontiers in Veterinary Science
An ear tip is the universal sign of a spayed or neutered cat. Eartips are readily visible from a distance, making it easy for the public & animal control to identify a cat as spayed or neutered. The procedure is performed under sterile conditions while the cat is anesthetized, is relatively painless, involves little to no bleeding and does not significantly alter the cat's appearance. We consider that ear tip a badge of honor!

Our Process:
Once you submit the TNR Request Form, we’ll review your request, assess the urgency of the situation, connect via email and a volunteer will schedule the TNR based on available spay/neuter & the number of cats on our wait list to be trapped & fixed. Unfortunately, on demand TNR doesn’t exist.
Please note, our volunteer trappers have full time jobs & donate their time to TNR.
Once a volunteer trapper has confirmed a trapping date, you’ll be asked to:
Withhold food the day of trapping, this is critical as hungry cats are most likely to go into traps.
The cats are trapped in the early evening, held overnight by the volunteer & transported by the volunteer early the following morning for surgery.
Following their surgery, they’re monitored while they recover, fed 2-3 meals and the trappers returns them back exactly where they were trapped approx. 36 hours after surgery.
We do NOT have a shelter facility.
We are NOT an animal pick up service & don’t take unwanted animals from the public.
We do NOT relocate/remove cats.
We do NOT provide free medical care or food for homeless cats.
* Unfortunately there are no support services in the city of L.A. for sick or injured cats. If you have the ability to secure the animal safely, please do so & take it to a city shelter where their medical staff will make the most humane choice for the cat.
FYI:
We utilize the spay/neuter services of FixNation.org or Stray Paws Animal Haven for our Spay Sunday collab’s.
We NEVER “pull” animals from shelters given the fact that our city streets are overflowing with homeless cats & kittens, most of which aren’t fixed & are the greatest contributors to the shelter crisis.
We can ONLY rescue kittens if we have a foster home and the funds to cover required medical care. We always need fosters and urge the public to refer adopters so support our volunteer work!
We will never ask for a financial “pledge” before we trap or rescue an animal. We rely solely on the community to chip-in what they can to help fund our volunteer efforts.
